I was born at Luke Air Force Base in Glendale, Arizona to parents who grew up in a small northeastern North Carolina town. Raised in Wake County, North Carolina, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1990 with a degree in U.S. History.
To complete my career goal of practicing law, I attended the University of Mississippi School of Law, graduating Cum Laude in 1993.
From 1993 to 2006, I practiced with a law firm in Windsor, North Carolina. During these years, I handled a variety of different cases with an initial focus on criminal law and family law. I also represented the child support agencies in Bertie and Hertford Counties. In 2006, myself and another partner combined our practices to form a law firm in Edenton, North Carolina.
After practicing or partnering with law firms for 18 years, I wanted a new direction and opened my own law firm in 2011.
I am a member of the First District Bar Association, North Carolina Bar Association, and the North Carolina Advocates for Justice.
I currently practice in three North Carolina judicial districts:
1st, 2nd, and 6th.
And specifically practice in the following 13 counties:
Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Gates, Hertford, Hyde, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrell, and Washington.
